Probability scoring for Viterbi search is one of the most computational intensive phases of a traditional HMM based ASR process. This research is trying to take advantage of the high computational throughput of GPU to speed up this process. Through a raw implementation, a 2-beam Viterbi system implemented on GPU has demonstrated potential of completing a HMM based GMM scoring task over 45 times faster than C.
